Annual Greek Labor Day Barbecue
Since 1948, Montgomery’s Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church has sponsored the Capital City’s most flavorful Labor Day Barbecue — despite occasional obstacles posed by blistering temperatures, threatening tornadoes, hurricane-force winds and rain, and most recently, a coronavirus epidemic.
We've simplified our offerings to include Boston butts, camp stew, and pastry samplers inspired by Greek cuisine. Preordering isn’t required but it is definitely encouraged. Click here to order online. Online preordering will close at 9pm on the Sunday before Labor Day. Orders may also be placed at Chris’ Hotdogs in downtown Montgomery, and through Greek Orthodox Church community members.
Any food not sold during the preorder period will be available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis during pickup hours, from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Labor Day. The sale takes place on the church grounds, at the corner of Mt. Meigs Road and S. Capital Parkway. Drive-thru pick-up is available, and workers will wear face coverings if appropriate at that time. All preordered food not picked up by 11:00 a.m. on Labor Day will be made available for sale to others.
